As always, there are ups and downs throughout each year but this year has been filled with ups (and maybe a few teeny tiny downs occasionally) and I'm truly grateful. I've grown and learnt so much this year! I've learnt to leave my past behind and live for the present. I've learnt to look for positivity and stray away from negativity. I've learnt to rely on myself because no one is responsible for me but myself.
Anyway, enough of my reflections and let's get on with the post! I've been really busy packing and preparing for my one month trip to Maastricht in the Netherlands but I'm not done yet! I'll be flying off on the 2nd so, at least I get to spend New Year's Day with my family! :D
I was deciding on my last 2012 post and I thought that it would be good idea to end the year with food snaps from my favourite country, Malaysia! After all, it is what I truly love :)
**[Note: I'm trying out a new compact camera (Canon S110) that I got for Christmas and I'm quite pleased with the pictures!! I'll be bringing this to the Netherlands as riding a bike while lugging a DSLR with a few lens doesn't feel safe to me :P]
Crispy Apom Balik
Filled with roasted peanuts, desiccated coconut, sweet corn cream, sugar and a bit of margarine
A must whenever I'm at the night market!!!
A thicker and chewier version of Apom Balik
Filled with roasted peanuts, sugar and margarine. Unlike the crispy ones, which are made individually, this one is made in a huge pan and sliced into pieces.
Assam Laksa
Thick and chewy noodles with a sourish and spicy broth served with fish (usually mackerel/ikan kembong), cucumber, onion, pineapple, chilli and mint leaves.
Spicy Chilli Pan Mee
A different version from the more common Kin Kin chilli pan mee style. And if you ask my brother, he swears by this!
Imbi Market
One of my favourite breakfast spots! However, it will re-located to a different area soon due to government development :(
Kaya Butter Bun
The BEST I've ever had. Imagine a warm toasted bun (with a slight crunch on the outside but soft in the inside) with a slice of butter and a generous smear of sweet kaya!
Kopi
And you can't have kaya butter toast without a cup of coffee :P
Popiah
I'll never get sick of popiahs! I always request mine to be made extra spicy but this one, from the Imbi Market, was so spicy that two cups of ice kopi couldn't extinguish the flames!!!
Wantan Mee
Other than the wantan mee from Petaling Street (Chinatown), my dad claims that this is his favourite!
Uncle that sells vegetarian goodies on his motorcycle at the entrance of Imbi Market
Ever since I was a kid, I love buying stuff from motorcycles because they always carry the best things! Ice-cream man, bread man, chee cheong fun uncle, tong sui uncle.... endless! It's definitely one of the many things that I love about Malaysia :)
Finally before I enter the new year, I want to thank you all for a fantastic year because this blogging journey, so far, has been nothing but incredible! I'm looking forward to many more posts next year and of course, it'll start with my Maastricht adventure!!! Again, thank you for an amazing 2012 :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg SO much amazingness... I think you and I have very very similar tastebuds... Love eating at markets/kopitiam more than at restaurants...
